Objective: Identify key people in the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment. Make connections and discuss the influence of the Renaissance, Reformation and common themes of Humanism and Secularism in all three movements. Compare and contrast the philosophies of John Locke and Thomas Hobbes.
Task: Happy Monday! We'll begin today's class with a review of the absolutism and Enlightenment packet that are due today identifying themes and main ideas. Then, you'll further explore five significant thinkers of the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment by referencing a PowerPoint presentation on the Moodle, your absolutism and enlightenment packet, and additional resources to answer the questions on each thinker. Next, we'll examine two primary source documents from Thomas Hobbes's Leviathan and John Locke's Of Civil Government. We will compare and contrast the two philosophers and discuss their differing perspectives.
