CPWC Day 35 - Introduction to Renaissance Europe

Objective: Identify the key characteristics of the Renaissance.  Examine the socio-economic and political climate that facilitated the development of the Renaissance in Italy.

Task: We will begin class labeling Eastern Europe on your map.  You'll also complete a worksheet matching the capitals and countries of Europe.  You will need to know these capitals for you quiz on Tuesday and the mid-term exam.  Next we'll watch a short clip on the fall of the Roman Empire and the beginning of what is known as the Dark Ages, the era that preceeds and ushers in the Renaissance.  I'll also check your reading notes for Chapter 12. Next, we'll get into groups for a pre-reading vocabulary activity.  You will individually read the article "Why Renaissance, Why Florence". You'll form groups to review the article and complete the accompanying worksheet. With the time remaining in class, we'll go over the unit 3 test.
