Objective: Identify, compare and contrast key components of the three major religions of the Middle East. Explore and define different ethnic groups in the Middle East.
Task: We will begin class by finishing our chart on the three monotheistic religions that emerged in the Middle East. Specifically, we'll discuss the rise of Islam. Once we have finished this, you will use close reading methods to read the article "Heirs of Abraham." Next, you will break into groups to review and complete a Venn Diagram to organize the information from the article. As a group, you will also work through an activity to explore different ethnic groups of the Middle East. At the end of class, we will reconvene to review the "Heirs of Abraham" vocabulary.
