Objective: Identify the key characteristics of the Renaissance. Examine the socio-economic and political climate that facilitated the development of the Renaissance in Italy. List names, dates, events and places that are relevant to the early years of the Renaissance.
Task: We'll begin class by reviewing the Heritage of Europe activity from yesterday. Next, we'll watch a short clip describing the fall of the Roman Empire. Then, we'll watch a segment of the documentary Money and Power. While watching the video, you'll take notes on important ideas. Then, we'll compare and contrast the philosophical, economic, religious and governmental differences between the medieval period and the Renaissance. Finally, with the remainder of class you can work on your summary paragraph on Money and Power.
