Objectives: Investigate the formation of and contemporary issues faced by the European Union. Examine Basque culture and the history of the Basque separatist movement in France and Spain.
Task: You will be using your textbook to read the case study on the European Union on pages 326-329. As you read you will work on the in-depth reading guide to complete the questions. You will then get into groups to check your work. You will read primary sources A, B, C, D,& E and answer the questions posted on the board. Next, we will watch a short video clip introducing the culture of the Basque people, after which you will get out the computers to do an activity researching the history and conflicts of the Basques in France and Spain.
