HWC10.11 Day 33 - Women in Islam & Conflict & Modernization in the Middle East

Objectives:  Examine Zionism and other nationalist movements in the North Africa and Southwest Asia.  Identify and evaluate significant events in the Arab-Israeli conflict.  Examine the role of women in Islam.

Task:   To start class, we'll use the Israel map to examine the Arab-Israeli conflict and take notes on the trends that have shaped the Middle East in the past century.  Then, we'll spend some time examining the complex and controversial role of women in Islam.   Finally, the remainder of class will be used to review for tomorrow's test.
