CPWC Day 17 - Africa Geography & Scramble for Africa

Objective:  Identify and label countries, cities, bodies of water, and major geographic features of Sub-Saharan Africa.  Identify key events and justifications for European imperialism.

Task:  As you come into class, please get out your map packet, your large Africa map, a marker, and colored pencils.  To start class, we'll finish labeling our Africa map and the capitals list.

Pd. 3-4: Next, you'll get out your computer to work on "The Scramble for Africa."  Use the links on the moodle to complete parts 1 & 2 of this activity.  If you finish early, work on your current events post OR work on your reading notes for the chapter 18 reading quiz.

Pd. 6-9:  Next, we'll spend some time reviewing the significance of the ancient empires and kingdoms in Africa.  Finally, you'll finish "The Scramble for Africa" activity from yesterday.  If you finish early, work on your current events post OR work on your reading notes for the chapter 18 reading quiz.

Homework:
  • TODAY - Comment due to current events forum on Moodle by 3:00 pm
  • Friday, September 20 - Chapter 18 reading quiz (reading notes may be used)
  • Wednesday, September 25 - Africa map quiz
  • Friday, September 27 - Unit 2 Test
