Soc Day 7 - Theoretical Perspectives: Conflict Perspective

Please bring headphones or earbuds to class tomorrow.

Objective:  Investigate the lives and ideas of the pioneers of sociology.  Examine the ways society impacts everyday behavior.

Task:  As you come into class, please review your notes on functionalism.  We'll begin today's studies with the Charlie Chaplin film clip.  As you watch the clip, critically observe the film so that you will be able to explain how this relates to the functionalist perspective.  After our discussion, you'll take notes on the conflict perspective.  We'll end class with a game that illustrates the role of social structure, luck, and effort in determining one's social position.
