Objective: Discuss Chinese reaction to foreign and western influence in China at the turn of the century. Examine the impact and implementation of communism in China.
Task: We will begin class with our map of East Asia. Then, we'll take some notes on the events that occurred at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century in China. These events set the stage for the civil war and eventual Communist Revolution in 1949. You will then be using the computers to complete a case study on communism in China. You will only be completing the following sections: Part I: # 1 and 3, Part II: #1, Part III: all, Part IV: # 1 and 2, and Part V: 5 Myths about Chinese Communist Party.
