WHAP Day 23 - Comparing Buddhism & Christianity

Day 5 - PAW 5



KC2.1.I.  Codifications and further developments of existing religious traditions provided a bond among people.

  • CUL2 - Explain how religions, belief systems, philosophies, and ideologies affected political, economic, and social developments over time.
KC2.1.II.  New belief systems and cultural traditions emerged and spread, often asserting universal truths.
  • CUL5 -Explain how the arts are shaped by and reflect innovation, adaptation, and creativity of specific societies over time.
Objectives:  Analyze documents to compare Buddhism and Christianity in the Classical era.

Task:  Good morning! When you arrive to class, please get out a pen or pencil and clear everything off of your desk.  We'll start class with a very brief quiz to check your understanding of the Classical era.  Then, you'll split into groups to complete SOAP analysis on the documents.  After each group presents its analysis we'll create another comparison chart.  Finally, we'll use the remainder of class reviewing our monumental architecture charts.

Homework Due Dates:
  • ASAP - "Migration of Anatomically Modern Humans Response" corrections (see comments for current 'grade')
  • ASAP - Download "Timeline Builder" app
  • TODAY - Comparing Buddhism & Christianity (KC2.1) document analysis (annotations & comparison chart)
  • Monday, October 2 - "Evidence Analysis - Comparing Buddhism & Christianity" due 
  • Tuesday, October 10 - What is Empire? document analysis due in class

  • Friday, October 13 - What is Empire? thesis statement due
