Soc Day 5 - Sociology as a Social Science & Theoretical Perspectives

Objective:  Investigate the lives and ideas of select sociologists.  Examine the way society impacts everyday behavior.

Task: We'll start class by forming our desks into a circle to discuss the reading, "What is sociology?"
Then, we'll continue our unit 1 notes with an exploration of the dominant theoretical perspectives and I'll introduce your next project, "Classrooms as Symbolic Statements."   Finally, you'll use the last portion of class to work on your "Pioneers of Sociology" project.

• Friday, January 31 - Pioneers of Sociology reflection posts due on VoiceThread by 3:00 pm

• Tuesday, February 4 - "Classroom as Symbolic Statements" research and presentation due in class
