CPWC Day 4 - Using Maps to Understand the World

UPDATE:  Due to the 2 hour delay, we focused on the reading notes review and watched the video clip below in preparation for our examination of maps.

Objectives:  Compare and contrast types of map projections.  Analyze uses of map projections.

Task:  We'll begin class with a brief review of your chapter 1, section 1 reading notes.   Then, we'll continue our discussion on cultural regions with a K-W-L chart.  Next, you'll complete a worksheet comparing maps from different points in history.  Then we'll take a few minutes examining the Gall-Peters Projection.

Homework:
  • TODAY - Chapter 1, Section 1 reading notes due in class
  • Wednesday, January 29 - Chapter 1, Section 2 reading notes due in class
  • Thursday, January 30 - Geography Skills (Section 3 of chapter 1) notes due in class
  • Thursday, January 30 - Geography chapter 1 reading quiz (notes may be used on quiz)
  • Friday, January 31 - Foundations Investigation due
