Soc Day 2 - Foundations of Sociology

Objective:  Examine the ways in which society impacts everyday behaviors. Research the lives and major contributions of select sociologists.

Task:  We'll start today's class with an activity in which you begin to develop the mindset of a sociologist.  Specifically, we'll discuss the manner in which various groups have influenced you through the different life stages.  Next, we'll begin notes with an examination of patterns in sociology and the sociological imagination.

Finally, I'll introduce the "Pioneers of Sociology" project before we head to the library for research.  In order to complete this activity, you'll need to create a VoiceThread account.  Once you've created your account, be sure to personalize your account with an appropriate image that represents you.

• Monday, January 27 - Parent information sheet (GoogleForm via Moodle) & email contact
• Tuesday, January 28- Unit 1 Vocabulary due
• Wednesday, January 29 - "What is Sociology?" reading due (be ready to discuss in class)
• Thursday, January 30 - Pioneers of Sociology posts due on VoiceThread BEFORE class starts
• Friday, January 31 - Pioneers of Sociology reflection posts due on VoiceThread by 3:00 pm
