Objective: Summarize the impact of imperialism on the people and cultures of Southeast Asia. Examine totalitarianism, nationalism, and democracy in Myanmar.
Task: As you come into class, please get out a blank piece of paper. Label the paper with your name, today's date, and "Unit 7: Killing Fields Viewing Notes." Write down the following questions:
- What is the role of the international community before and during the rule of the Khmer Rouge?
- How does the Khmer Rouge take over Cambodia?
- What is the role of the media?
- Make note of anything that you think is important and/or that you have questions about.
As you watch the film, take notes to answer the questions, to record important information, and to list questions that may arise.
