Congratulations FCP Award Winners!

On May 15, the period 1-2 Honors World Cultures class participated in the Flat Classroom Project 13-1 awards ceremony.  In November, students began work on this project when they read and blogged about The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman.  In January, students joined the Flat Classroom Project Ning and developed relationships with students in other schools through this educational social network.  These relationships continued to grow as students collaboratively created a page on the FCP13-1 wiki.  Finally, students planned and created a multimedia project to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.  

Out of 184 total videos submitted for judging, 12 Saucon Valley students were recognized for excellence.

• In topic #1, Connecting the World Online, Whitney earned an Honorable Mention for her video, "Social Entrepreneurship."
• In topic #2, World Wide Web, Matt S. earned a 3rd place award for his video, "The World Wide Web: The Story of Henry Granju."
• In topic #3, Workflow Software, Damian earned a 2nd place award for his video, "Workflow Software and Group Stories." 
• In topic #4, Uploading: The Changing Shape of Information, Brandon earned an honorable mention for his video, "The Changing Shape of Information," and Dawid earned a 1st place award for his video, "The Changing Shape of Information." 
• In topic #6, Globalization and Outsourcing, Isabel earned a 2nd place award for her video, "Uniting for Hope."
• In topic #7, Google, Megan earned an honorable mention for her video, "Uniting Through Google."
• In topic #9, Mobile and Ubiquitous, Chris earned a 3rd place award for his video, "The Story of Malala," and Diana earned a 1st place award for her video, "Innovation, Invention, and Prediction."
• In topic #10, Virtual Communication, Kelsy earned a 1st place award for her video, "Social Entrepreneurs Give Hope to Invisible Children."
• In topic #11, Wireless Connectivity, Ashley earned a 3rd place award for her video, "Play and Connectivity in the Workplace," and Matt C. earned a 2nd place award for his video, "The Wireless Future."

After judges choose winners in each of the topic categories, the first and second place winners are judged by a meta judge for overall project winners.  I am pleased to announce that Kelsy's video was recognized as the 2nd best video submitted in the entire project. 

On a personal note, I would like to thank all students for successfully participating and completing this extensive, and sometimes frustrating, project.
