HWC Day 20 - Nationalism & Independence

Objective: Identify the role of nationalism in the nineteenth & twentieth centuries.  Survey the various paths toward independence in Africa in the twentieth century.

Task:  Today's class will focus on the various nationalisms that arose at least partially in response to European imperialism.  We'll discuss the impacts of European rule in Africa and survey the some of the nationalist movements that arose in response to imperialism.  Finally, we'll examine the impact of these nationalist movements on newly independent states in Africa.
