CPWC Day 14 - Great Civilizations

Objective:  Compare and contrast the portrayal of Africa and Africans in American popular culture to the political, cultural, and social realities.

Task:  While you're copying down the daily objective, I'll collect your maps to check for completion.  We'll begin class with a review and discussion of Friday's video, "What Do We Know About Africa?"  Then you'll participate in a jigsaw activity to examine the great civilizations of East, Central, West, and South Africa.  Finally, you'll read and interpret a series of documents to identify the character of Africa prior to the mid-19th century.

Homework:

  • Due TODAY by 3:00 - Current Events posts GoogleMap 
  • TOMORROW - Reading quiz on Chapter 18 (you may use reading notes that are brought to class)
  • Due tomorrow - DBQ document analysis (NOT essay)
  • Due Wednesday - Labeled South and East Africa maps
  • Due Friday - Chapter 20 reading
