CPWC Day 9 - Globalization & Development (Part II)

Objective: Investigate development, globalization, and interdependence from the mid-twentieth century to the present.

Task:  Today, we'll finish working in groups to complete the stations that we began on Friday.  While some of the stations require you to use provided resources, you will also need to use specific links that can be accessed through the Moodle.  As you work through the stations, be sure to keep the "BIG PICTURE" in mind.  In other words, ask yourself, "How does this information help us to better understand our world and ourselves?"

• Due tomorrow - Ayiti reflection posted to Moodle forum
• Wednesday, 9/12 - Unit 1 Test
• Wednesday, 9/12 - Bring covered textbook to class (5 points)

Test Preparation:  Wednesday's 200 point test will consist of six parts: 1) Multiple choice, 2) Matching, 3) Locating Cultural Regions, 4) Map Skills, 5) Interpreting a Chart, 6) Short Answer

Be sure that you can answer the following questions in COMPLETE paragraphs with supporting details:

• Tell how each of the following elements of culture helps to shape a culture.

• How is a developing nation different from a developed nation? Be specific and give examples. 

• Improved technology has led to greater interdependence among nations.  Describe why two of the following are issues of global concern: a) uneven economic development, b) the environment, c) human rights, d) terrorism.
