CPWC Day 13 - Africa: Perceptions & Realities

Objectives:  Identify and dispel misconceptions about Africa.  Locate, read, and summarize relavent news stories and post to a collaborative GoogleMap.

Task:  After you've written down the daily objectives, please get out your computer and log onto the Moodle in preparation for our current events awareness activity.  Next you will need to find a seat with your assigned partner.  After a brief introduction, you will be given 20 minutes to work on your current events awareness activity (anything not completed in class MUST be finished by 3:00 on Monday).

To prepare for our next activity, you'll need to log-off and put away your computers.  Following a brief review of ethnocentrism, you'll complete the K & W sections of a KWLS chart.  While watching "What Do We Know About Africa?" you'll fill in the L section of the chart.  Finally, after the video you'll finish the S section of the chart.

  • Due Monday - Labeled Central Africa maps
  • Tuesday - Reading quiz on Chapter 18 (you may use reading notes that are brought to class)
