HWC Day 19 - Historiography & Nationalism

Objectives: Assess knowledge and understanding of Africa maps.  Identify the role of nationalism in nineteenth and twentieth century Africa. Survey the various paths toward independence in Africa in the twentieth century.

Task:  After you've recorded the daily objective, please turn your desk to the front of the room and place all materials under your desk except for a pen or pencil.  You'll spend the first half of a class completing your Africa map quiz.  When you've finished with the quiz, please hand it in and pick up the nationalism vocabulary sheet and complete the Venn diagram on the back while you wait for your classmates.  Once all students have handed in the quiz, we'll briefly discuss issues of the historiography of the African past.  Finally, we'll spend the remainder of class examining select African nationalist ideologies.
