Objective: Identify the causes and consequences of Japanese expansion in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Task: As you arrive to class, please get out your chapter 11 reading notes in preparation for the quiz. You'll have the first 30 minutes of class to complete the quiz. When you've finished, please pick up the "Rescript on Education." Critically read the document and identify characteristics of Japanese culture. After we discuss the rescript, we'll spend the last portion of class comparing the experiences of Japan and China in the 19th and 20th centuries.
