Objective: Compare contemporary societies in North and South Korea. Compare and contrast the relationship of Japan and China to the West in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Task: We'll begin class with a discussion of "The Top Ten Things to Know About Korea." Then, you'll read and take notes on chapter 28, section 3 to develop a characterization of the Korean peninsula. We'll also watch a brief clip about totalitarianism in North Korea. Finally, if there is time remaining, you will work on your comparison essay.
