Objective: Participate in a virtual field trip to the Tower of London. Compare and contrast the relationship of Japan and China to the West in the 19th and 20th centuries. Identify the causes and consequences of Japanese expansion in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Pd. 3-4 Task: Good morning! We'll spend the first few minutes of class reviewing communism in China. Then, to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War, we'll participate in a virtual field trip to the Tower of London. Finally, we'll end class with the unit 4 reading quiz.
Pd. 6-9 Task: Good afternoon! We'll begin class with the unit 4 reading quiz. After you finish the quiz, you'll pick up "China & Japan Respond to the West" and begin the close reading activity. Once everyone has finished the quiz, we'll begin our investigation of select events in pre-modern Japan and the emergence of Japan as a world power beginning with the Meiji Restoration.
