CPWC Day 40 - Absolutism & Revolution

Objectives:  Investigate the political and social revolutions that emerged in Europe beginning in the mid-eighteenth century.

Task:   After you've recorded the daily objective, please clear your desk of everything except a pen or pencil.  We'll spend the beginning of class completing the map quiz.  When you've finished the quiz, please turn it in to the front of the room and pick up the "Absolutism and Democracy" DBQ.  Please work on this packet while your waiting for your classmates.  If you finish this early, please get out your textbook and work on your reading notes for chapter 14.  Once everyone has finished the quiz, we'll review the significance of the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Scientific Revolution, and the Columbian Exchange.  Finally, we'll spend the end of class reviewing the "Absolutism and Democracy" DBQ packet.

Extra Credit Opportunity (up to 20 points):  Watch and take notes on Monday's presidential debate on foreign policy.  Then, type a one-to-two page reflection on the issues discussed in the debate.  Be sure to include your opinion on the issues in your reflection.

Homework:
  • Friday, October 26 - Chapter 14 reading quiz (reading notes may be used on quiz)
  • Friday, October 26 - Debate notes/reflection due for extra credit
  • Tuesday, October 30 - Mid-Term Exam
  • Wednesday, November 28 - Field trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage (NYC)
