CPWC Day 33 - Mid-East Wrap-Up

Objective:  Determine how imperialism, nationalism, and globalization has impacted society, particularly the role of women, throughout Southwest Asia, North Africa, and Central Asia

Task:  After you've recorded our daily objectives, we'll begin a very busy class period. First, we'll review the  "Islamic Contributions to Civilization" DBQ and discuss how this fits into our understanding of Islam.  Then, we'll continue our examination of Islam with discussion of "From Tunis to Tehran" and the controversy surrounding veiling (see video below).  Finally, we'll spend some time reviewing "The Country That Isn't" to examine the unique, and often difficult, position of stateless peoples.


Homework:
  • TODAY - Thank you letter (extra credit) due by 3:00
  • Tuesday, October 16 - Bring textbook to class
  • Tuesday, October 16 - Unit 3 Test
  • Wednesday, October 17 - PSAT
  • Tuesday, October 30 - Mid-Term Exam
