HWC Day 74 - Exploring Australia & Oceania

Important:  We are rapidly approaching the end of the semester and the end of this course. Please check PowerSchool.  If you have any questions about your grade, please see me during period 12 as soon as possible.

Purpose:   Examine the unique culture, geography, and history of Oceania and Australia.

Task: Welcome back!  I hope you had a joy-filled, relaxing holiday break.  Today, we'll focus on defining Oceania and Australia.  However, before delving into our studies, we'll play a Kahoot! to review capitals and geographic features of Asia.  Then, you'll use the resources below to compare the Aborigines of Australia and the Maoris of New Zealand.  Next, you'll complete a directed research activity to explore Oceania.

  • TODAY - Unit 7 PDCs due on class blog
  • Wednesday, January 4 - Asia map quiz (all of Asia & Oceania)
  • Friday, January 5 - Indigenous peoples discussion (unit 8) - summary due in Schoology by 7:30 am

  • Monday, January 9 - Unit 8 PDPs due on class blog
  • Tuesday, January 10 - Neoliberalism reading quiz (index card may be used)

  • Friday, January 13 - Cumulative map quiz (Africa, Europe, & Latin America)
