HWC Day 7 - Using The Library

"Google can bring you back 100,000 answers, librarians can bring you back the right one."  Author Neil Gaiman

Objectives:  Identify and utilize library resources necessary for HWC.

Task:  Today, we'll spend most of our class-time in the library reviewing tools and sources that will be useful in HWC.  When you arrive to class, please download "Foundations Investigation" from Schoology to Notability.

At the library Mrs. Sams will give a brief presentation and then you'll use the remainder of class to work on the "Foundations Investigation."
  • The first page is just people - probably best to use Google b/c some of these people have taken office relatively recently.
  • For top of page 2, use the cultural regions map in your Globalization & Diversity textbook.  Mrs. Sams will review the historical sources on the bottom of the page.
  • For page 3,  you will need to use a PRINT copy of History Today (question #48) and Current History (question #49).  Responses must be posted on the class blog
Homework:
  • TODAY  - Report to LIBRARY for class
  • Wednesday, February 1 - Yalta Conference - primary document analysis practice (read before class)
  • Wednesday, February 1 - "Becoming Human" discussion (watch interactive video on a computer (runs on Flash) or read the transcript)
  • Thursday, February 2 - Globalization & Diversity chapter 1 reading quiz (1 side of 3x 5 index card permitted)
  • Friday, February 3 - Imperialism discussion (complete Venn diagram and chart in preparation for our discussion)
  • Wednesday, February 8 - Unit 1 Test
