HWC1.2 Day 8 - Social Sciences, Periodization, & Globalization

Objectives:  Define history and the social sciences as they will be used in HWC.  Trace the development of man from the emergence of civilization to the 21st century.  Investigate development, globalization, and interdependence in the contemporary world.

Task:  Today, we'll divide the class into three distinct sections: presentations, notes, and stations.  To start class, we'll watch the Primer presentations.  Then, we'll continue notes on periodization in history.  Finally, we'll spend the last 40 minutes of class working on the globalization stations.

Homework:
  • TODAY - Completed SlideRocket presentations due by 3:30 (bonus points for presentations ready at the beginning of class)
  • Tuesday, February 5 - Globalization & Development stations work due
  • Tuesday, February 5 - Historical Study: Imperialism & What is Imperialism? due at beginning of class
  • Wednesday, February 6 - Primer vocabulary quiz (see e-mail for SlideRocket presentations & word list)
  • Thursday, February 7 - Unit 1 Test (see study hints on Moodle)
