Objectives: Identify capitals of Africa. Compare and contrast the portrayal of Africa and Africans in American popular culture to political, social, and cultural realities.
Task: We'll start today's class with a brief summary of expectations for the FCP handshake (sample 1 and sample 2) and Ning personalization. Then, we'll play a game to review the capitals of Africa. We'll use the next portion of class to investigate our existing perceptions (and misperceptions) of Africa by watching and taking notes on a video, "What Do We Know About Africa?" Finally, we'll spend some time in a discussion circle to review Part B of the Africa Regional Study.
