West Civ Day 11 - Transition from Republic to Empire

“Now that no one buys our votes, the public has long since cast off its cares; the people that once bestowed commands, consulships, legions and all else, now meddles no more and longs eagerly for just two things, bread and circuses.” Juvenal ca. 100 CE

Objectives:  Consider the fall of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire as events that contributed to Western Civilization.
Task: Salve! Today, we'll continue our exploration of the Roman world. When you arrive, please open your "Ancient Rome Video Notes." We'll consider the transition from republic to empire. If there's any time remaining, we'll use the quote to begin our examination of the weaknesses of the Roman empire.
