HWC Day 8 - Praciticing History

Objectives:  Explore the difficulties and justifications for periodization in history.  Discuss the origins of humanity as presented in "Becoming Human."  Define historical periods utilized in HWC.

Task:  Good afternoon!  When you arrive to class, please open your notes please download "HWC Unit 1 Periodization Notes."  We'll pull together our discussion on historical periodization and "Becoming Human."  Then, we'll finish our class in groups practicing our primary document analysis with the Yalta Conference.

Homework:

• Wednesday, February 1 - Yalta Conference - primary document analysis practice (read before class)
• Wednesday, February 1 - "Becoming Human" discussion (watch interactive video on a computer (runs on Flash) or read the transcript)
• Thursday, February 2 - Globalization & Diversity chapter 1 reading quiz (1 side of 3x 5 index card permitted)
• Friday, February 3 - Imperialism discussion (complete Venn diagram and chart in preparation for our discussion)
• Wednesday, February 8 - Unit 1 Test
• Wednesday, February 8 - "Foundations Investigation" due by midnight
