CPWC Day 52 - East Asia Wrap-Up

Objective:  Investigate the cultural significance of select events in Japan's history.  Analyze the totalitarian state of North Korea.

Task:  Good morning!  We'll begin class with an interactive quiz considering Japan.  Then, we'll finish our notes on Japan and discuss "Reviving Shinto" (Christian Science Monitor, 10/5/2015).   Finally, we'll end class with an examination of select elements of Korean geography, history, and culture (use "Korea Geog Notes" in Schoology).

Questions to consider about the Korean War:
  1. Why was the Korean peninsula divided into 2 states after World War II?  What is the line that divides North & South Korea?
  2. Who was the leader of North Korea?  ...of South Korea?
  3. What were the costs of the Korean War?
  4. What is an armistice?
  5. How does the Korean War continue to inform international politics and diplomacy?

  • Wednesday, November 18 - "Totalitarianism in North Korea" reflection due on Schoology
