CPWC Day 44 - Introduction to East Asia

Quarter 1 Grades are finalized.  Please review and speak to Mrs. Friday ASAP if you have any questions.

Objective:  Examine the ideas and influence of indigenous and diffused religious and philosophical traditions in East Asia.  Investigate the historical and cultural significance of the Silk Road.

Task:  When you arrive to class, please work on your East Asia map while I check your homework.  After I've checked homework, we'll watch a short video on the religions and philosophies of China.  After a brief discussion, you'll spend the rest of class working on an investigation of the Silk Road.

Homework:
  • TODAY - Chapter 27, section 1 reading notes due in class
  • Thursday, November 5 - Chapter 27, section 3 reading notes due in class
  • Thursday, November 5 - Current Events extra credit due in NoodleTools by 3:00 pm (see below)
  • Friday, November  6 - East Asia map due in Schoology dropbox by 4:00 pm
  • Monday, November 9 - Chapter 28, section 2 reading notes due in class
  • Tuesday, November 10 - Chapter 29, section 1 reading notes due in class
  • Wednesday, November 11 - Chapter 29, section 2 reading notes due in class
  • Thursday, November 12 - Unit 5 reading quiz (27.1, 27.3, 28.2, 29.1, & 29.2 - two-sided, hand-written index card may be used)
  • Tuesday, November 17 - Unit 5 Test
CPWC Current Events - Extra Credit Opportunity (due in NoodleTools by 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 5)
Use one or more of the news sources below to find recent news articles relating to topics we've studied in quarter 1.  Create citations and annotations in NoodleTools.  The annotation MUST include a summary AND an explanation of how the article relates to our studies.  Share your work with the "CPWC Quarter 1 Extra Credit" dropbox.

Each citation/annotation is worth up to 5 points and you may complete up to 3 per unit (Foundations, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, Europe).
