HWC Day 21 - Nationalism & Independence in Sub-Saharan Africa

Objectives:  Identify and dispel misconceptions about Africa.  Explore the emergence of nationalism and independence in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Task:  Good morning!   When you arrive to class, please form a horseshoe in preparation for our discussion circle.  We'll spend the first half of class finishing our discussion on the Crowder article and review the emergence of nationalism in Sub-Saharan Africa.  Then, we'll spit into groups to examine Boko Haram in Nigeria, al-Shabab in Somalia, the civil war in DRC, dictatorial rule in Zimbabwe, and genocide in Rwanda and Burundi.
