CPWC Day 18 - History & Geography Review

Objective:  Label countries, cities, and bodies of water of Sub-Saharan Africa.   Investigate ancient and medieval history of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Pd. 3-4 Task (Shortened Class - Digital Citizenship):   Happy Friday!  When you arrive to class, please download "Africa Geography Review" to Notability.  We'll spend the first few minutes of class reviewing the status of Africa prior to the 19th century.  Then, we'll use the remainder of class to review the map of Africa.

Pd. 6-9 Task:  Happy Friday!  When you arrive to class, please download "Africa Geography Review" to Notability.  We'll spend the first few minutes of class reviewing the status of Africa prior to the 19th century.  Then, we'll use the remainder of class to review the map of Africa.  Finally, we'll spend the second half of class in the library working on the Foundations Investigation.


Homework:  
  • TODAY - Foundations Investigation, page 4 check
  • Monday, September 28 - Africa map quiz (use TapQuiz Maps & your tracing paper map to study!)
  • Monday, September 28 - Completed Foundations Investigation due by 11:59 pm
  • Wednesday, September 30 - Unit 2 Test
Directions for Foundations Investigation (also found in Schoology):
Use library and Internet resources to complete the Foundations Investigation.  This is NOT a collaborative or cooperative project - ALL work must be your own!
  • Use Google to identify the individuals in question 1-20.  Be sure to include his/her current position AND country/organization.
  • Listen carefully to Mrs. Sams's presentation to answer questions 21-23.
  • Use PRINT resources to complete question 24.  Mrs. Sams has pulled old editions of the needed sources.
  • Use the ProQuest Historical Newspaper database for question 25.  This database goes back more than 100 years - identify a historical event and see how the story was covered by the New York Times.
  • Go to http://watchingamerica.com/WA/ to complete question 26.
  • For question 27, you must select a news story of INTERNATIONAL significance.  If you are unsure, be sure to ask Mrs. Friday.  Approved news sources:
