HWC Day 47 - History of China

Our studies in the news:  "To Shape Young Palestinians, Hamas Creates its Own Textbooks" (New York Times, 11/4/13)  The Hamas movement is deviating from the approved Palestinian Authority curriculum, using the new texts as part of a broader push to infuse the next generation with its militant ideology.

Objective:  Examine the ideas of indigenous and diffused religions and philosophies in East Asia.  Summarize the impact of and Chinese reaction to Western imperialism.  Create a multimedia video that communicates with a general audience a theme from the FCP.

Task:  We'll  begin today's class with notes on the religions and philosophies of East Asia.  Then, we'll form a discussion circle to review the China timeline.  Finally, you'll have the last portion of class to work on your FCP video.
