CPWC Day 63 - Historiography & Perspective


Objectives:  Analyze the impact of imperialism and nationalism on South Asia. Evaluate the interpretation of historical events.

Task: After you've recorded the daily objective, please turn in your homework to the back of the room and pick up "The White Man's Burden."  Read this document and answer the following questions:
  1. Who wrote this poem?
  2. When & where was this poem written?
  3. What is this poem about?  Select one excerpt that best illustrates the main idea of this poem.
  4. What does this poem tell us about the British?  
  5. What does this poem tell us about India?
We'll spend some time discussing your answers to the questions above.  Then, we'll finish our notes on the history of South Asia.  Finally, we'll spend the remainder of class comparing British and Indian historical accounts of British rule in India.
