Day 1 - PAW 1
Objectives: Explore the difficulties and justifications for periodization of history. Summarize the defining elements of each of the big eras.
Task: Good morning! Please pick up a playing card on the front table. I'll spend the first few minutes of class explaining the Big Eras project. Then, you'll have 20 minutes to complete your reading quiz. At the end of the quiz, we'll finish our discussion on periodization. Finally, you'll spend the remainder of class working on your summary for the your section of the Big Eras chart.
Homework Due Dates:
- TODAY - Globalization & Diversity chapter 1 reading quiz (vocabulary list may be used on quiz)
- Thursday, September 7 - Watch "A History of the World in 18 Minutes" (David Christian, TEDTalk) BEFORE class
- Thursday, September 7 - Period 2 PAW
- Friday, September 8 - "Becoming Human" discussion in class (Watch interactive video or read the transcript)
- Friday, September 8 - Big Eras summary due at the beginning of class
- Monday, September 11 - Imperialism discussion (follow directions on Schoology)
- Friday, September 15 - Unit 1 Test
- Friday, September 15 - Period 2 PAW
