CPWC Day 27 - Islamic Expansion


Objectives:  Locate countries, bodies of water, and physical features on  maps of the Middle East. Examine the Ottoman Empire's place in history and reasons for its expansion and success.

Task:  After you've recorded the daily objectives, we'll begin class with a game to review the maps of North Africa and Southwest Asia.  Then, we'll get the computers out and complete a directered research activity on the success and strength of the Ottoman Empire.  Finally, we'll end class with a lecture/discussion on the Ottoman Empire.

HWC Day 27 - Monotheism (Part III)


Objectives:  Describe religious, political, and economic significance of the Hajj. Identify key components of Judaism and Christianity.

Task: After you finish recording our daily objectives, we'll take a few minutes to finish watching and to discuss Inside Mecca.  Next, we'll spend some class time working on a chart to compare Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.  Finally, the remainder of class will be used to review "Roots of Muslim Rage" and to practice our maps.

CPWC Day 26 - Monotheism (Part III)

Objective: Describe the religious, political, and economic significance of the Hajj.  Identify and locate countries, bodies of water, and physical features of North Africa and Southwest Asia.

Task:  Please get out your Southwest Asia maps before you begin to record our daily objective.  As you record the objective, your homework will be checked for completion.  In period 3/4,  we'll take the reading quiz on chapter 21.  Then we'll finish viewing, discuss, and collect video guides for Inside Mecca.  Finally, we'll use the remainder of class to review our maps.

HWC Day 26 - Monotheism (cont.)

Objective: Identify key components of Islam.  Describe the religious, political, and economic significance of the Hajj.

Task: After you've recorded our daily objective, we'll continue discussing the monotheistic religions that emerged in Southwest Asia.  Then, we'll watch portions of a video about the hajj entitled Inside Mecca.  Finally, we'll end class with a map review game.
