HWC Day 69 - Southeast Asia Introduction

Purpose:  Participate and observe a civil discussion about contemporary issues in South Asia.  Label political and physical features on a map of Southeast Asia.  Investigate select topics in the history and development of Southeast Asia.

Task: Good morning!  We'll begin class with the fishbowl discussions on South Asia.  After a short debrief, we'll transition to our studies of Southeast Asia.  First, you'll label the map of Southeast Asia.  Then, you'll research one of the issues in "Considering Southeast Asia."

Homework:
  • TODAY - Fishbowl discussions - "India Changes Course" & "The Struggle for Women's Empowerment in India"
  • Tuesday, December 20 - "A Taste of Adventure" close reading due in Schoology by 7:30 am
  • Thursday, December 22 - Culture Food Party (sign-up on GoogleDoc)
  • Thursday, December 22 - Final draft due by 3:00 pm (Must be submitted as a PDF to Schoology dropbox)
    • 5 bonus points if works cited is signed by Mrs. Sams
  • Friday, December 23 - Unit 7 PDPs due on class blog
  • Tuesday, January 3 - Unit 7 PDCs due on class blog
  • Wednesday, January 4 - Asia map quiz (all of Asia & Oceania)
  • Friday, January 5 - Indigenous peoples discussion (unit 8) - summary due in Schoology by 7:30 am

  • Monday, January 9 - Unit 8 PDPs due on class blog
  • Tuesday, January 10 - Neoliberalism reading quiz (index card may be used)
