CPWC Day 3 - Reading Strategies & Locating

Objective:  Establish strategies for taking successful reading notes.  Identify and label oceans, continents, and cultural regions on a world map.

Task:  As you come into class, please pick up "Lines of Latitude and Longitude" from the front cart and get out "Dreaming Upside Down."  Please spend the first portion of class completing these sheets.  After we've discussed these papers, we'll spend a few minutes exploring the tools in your on-line textbook (http://my.hrw.com/).

Next, you'll get out your textbooks and we'll discuss the process for taking reading notes.  By establishing effective reading and study habits, you'll develop a deeper understanding of the material. Also, you'll be permitted to use your reading notes on your reading quiz!

Finally, for the last portion of class, we'll begin labeling cultural regions on a world map.
