CPWC Day 3 - Tech Tools & Map Projections

Objective:  Identify, explain, and begin using GoogleApps that will be used in CPWC.  Explore and analyze the types and uses of map projections.

Task:    To start class, we'll finish our cultural regions map from yesterday.  Throughout the course, you will need to use several different Web2.0 applications to complete assignments.  You've already joined the class Moodle and today we'll begin to build your "tech toolbox" by accessing your district provided GoogleApps account.  Specifically, you'll set up your e-mail account and your GoogleReader.  I will also provide you with your username and password to access the on-line textbook at http://my.hrw.com/

For the remainder of class, you'll work on "Why Are Maps Important?  Understanding & Reading Maps."  To complete this activity, you'll need to use the links on the Moodle.

Homework:
  • Thursday, 8/29 - Book covers & binder with 8 dividers
  • Tuesday, 9/3 - Reading notes on chapter 1of Geography due in class
  • Wednesday, 9/4  - Reading quiz on chapter 1 (pp.2-13 ONLY) of Geography
  • Thursday, 9/5(if not finished in class) - Why are maps important?
