HWC Day 37 - Revolution in Government & Society

Objectives:  Evaluate the impact of the French Revolution.  Analyze the social, political, and economic results of the Industrial Revolution.

Task:  When you arrive to class, please get out your French Revolution notes from Friday.  We'll finish up our examination of the French Revolution.  Then, you'll read a translation of the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen."  As you read, record responses to the following in your notes:
  1. What is the significance of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen?
  2. How does this document represent Enlightenment ideals?  Identify and explain at least 5 specific quotes from the document.
Now consider the Congress of Vienna.  Go to "The Congress of Vienna: A Peace for the Strong" (History Today, September 2014) and "The Congress of Vienna" (The Map as History).  In your notes, identify the significance and primary provisions of the Congress of Vienna.

Finally, spend the last portion of class considering the Industrial Revolution.  Copy the "Industrial Revolution" notes from the Moodle.  Then, use these notes and your "Workshop of a New Society" notes to complete a forum post on the Industrial Revolution.

If there is any time remaining in class, please study for your mid-term exam or work on your hwc essay.
