CPWC Day 56 - Japan Wrap-Up & East Asia Review


Objectives: Assess how Japan’s response to contact with the West in the nineteenth century contributed to expansion in the twentieth century.

Task: When you have finished copying the daily objective, please pick up the "Rescript on Education" from the front of the room.  Then, read the document and identify how it reflects Japanese culture and the Meiji Restoration.  After we discuss this primary document, we'll finish our notes on Japan.  Finally, we'll spend the remainder of class reviewing for Monday's unit 5 test.

HWC Day 56 - Korea


Objective:  Compare and contrast the societies of North Korea and South Korea.

Task:  As soon as you get to class, please get out your computers.  Unfortunately, there was a small glitch in the wiki and we will need to reload videos to the topic pages.  Once you've logged on to the FCP12-2 wiki, go to the video topic page, and fill out the template and embed your video.  Also, please make sure that you have linked your name to your Ning page.  Then, go to the Moodle and open "State of Mind" video discussion.  We'll be using this live blog to take notes and interact while we watch this documentary on North Korea.

CPWC Day 55 - Condensed History of Japan

Objectives:  Compare and contrast the societies in North Korea and South Korea. Assess how Japan’s response to contact with the West in the nineteenth century contributed to expansion in the twentieth century.

Task: When you have finished copying the  daily objective, please get out your chapter 29 reading notes and a pencil in preparation for the quiz.  After the quiz, please turn it in to Mrs. Friday, pick up your "Inside North Korea" video guide and fill out "The Character of Korea" worksheet.  We'll use the remainder of class to take notes on the history of Japan.

HWC Day 55 - Meiji Fishbowl & Japan Wrap-Up


Objective: Assess how Japan’s response to contact with the West in the nineteenth century contributed to expansion in the twentieth century

Task:  After you've recorded the daily objective, please get out your fishbowl materials and prepare for the fishbowl by forming two circles.  When we've completed the discussion and reflections, we'll examine the "Rescript on Education" as a window on the Meiji Restoration and Japanese culture.  Finally, I'll explain the expectations and requirements for the Flat Classroom Summit next Thursday.
