Objectives:  Analyze the manner in which interactions between and within hemispheres led to reform in existing religions and the emergence of new syncretic belief systems. Evaluate major political and economic developments of the early modern era.

Task:  Happy Friday!  When you arrive to class, please get out a whiteboard or a blank notability note.  List 5 characteristics of the early modern era and provide at least two SPECIFIC examples for each characteristic.  Your characteristics should include at least 3 of the 5 SPICE categories.  After a brief discussion, you'll have the remainder of class to finish your empires chart and your vocabulary.

Day 2 - PAW 2

Objectives:  Analyze the manner in which interactions between and within hemispheres led to reform in existing religions and the emergence of new syncretic belief systems. Evaluate major political and economic developments of the early modern era.

Task:  Good morning!  When you arrive to class, please get out a pen or pencil and create a thesis statement in response to one of the following prompts:

1. To what degree did the religious developments of the early modern era (1450-1750) represent continuity with and change from earlier periods?  In your response identify at least two religions and explain how these developments demonstrated continuity and change.
2. What was the significance of piracy in the early modern era (1450-1750)?  In your response, explain the practical and ideological significance of piracy in the Atlantic System.

Then, open up your early modern religions document.  We'll spend the first portion of class reviewing your analysis.  Then, we'll break into small groups to complete a chart comparing the maritime and land empires of the early modern era.

Objectives:  Identify the methods used by gunpowder rulers to legitimize their rule. Discuss the characteristics of modern Europe.  Examine the changes brought about by the Reformation.

Task:  Happy Friday!  When you arrive to class, please complete the "Modern Europe Check-In" in Schoology.  After you've finished your post, we'll finish our breakdown of the gunpowder rulers before delving into the Reformation as a development of the early modern era.

Task:  Greetings!  When you arrive to class, please get out and work on "Gunpowder Rulers" (from yesterday).  We'll spend the first portion of class examining these documents to compare and contrast the rule of Suleyman, Akbar, & Shah Abbas.  Finally, we'll end the class with a review of your mid-term exam SAQs and DBQs.

Objectives:  Work in small groups to practice SBMCs.  Examine primary documents to analyze the successes and failures of the gunpowder empires.

Task:  New semester - new seats!!!   When you arrive to class, please find a NEW seat!  Then, pick up a playing card from Mrs. Friday.  We'll spend the first half of class practicing SBMCs.  Then, you'll begin to analyze and compare primary documents sources regarding three "gunpowder rulers:"  Suleyman, Shah Abbas, & Akbar.
