HWC Day 30 - Considering the History of the Region

Objectives:   Establish a timeline of significant events in the history of Southwest Asia.  Consider the role of orientalism in the historiography of the region.

Task:  Marhabaan! When you arrive to class, please get out a pen or a pencil to complete the geography crossword. After you've finished the review, grab a white board and respond to the following question:
Why is it necessary to consider orientalism when studying the history of the Middle East?
After a brief discussion, we'll take notes on the expansion of Islam and the review "West Comes East." Finally, we'll form groups to review "Roots of Muslim Rage."
