WestCiv Day 40 - Nationalism & Industrialization

Objective:  Investigate the emergence of nationalism in 19th century Europe.  Examine the development and impacts of industrialization in Britain.

Task: To begin, we'll finish our notes on nineteenth century nationalism by watching a short video on the revolutions of 1848 and the emergence of the states of Italy & Germany.  Next, we'll take notes on the Industrial Revolution and examine the various social movements that emerged in response to the changes brought about by industrialization.

Homework:

WestCiv Day 39 - French Revolution Assessment & Nationalism

Objective:  Assess knowledge and understanding of the French Revolution and Napoleon.  Investigate the emergence of nationalism in 19th century Europe.

Task: As you come into class, please get out your Napoleon packet from Monday.  We'll spend the first few minutes of class reviewing the last few questions on the packet.  Then, you'll use your notebook to complete the unit 5 test.  After everyone has finished the test, we'll finish our notes on the emergence of nationalism in Europe.

WestCiv Day 38 - Napoleon & Nationalism

Objective:  Participate in or observe a debate on Napoleon.  Investigate the emergence of nationalism in 19th century Europe.

Task: As you come into class, prepare for the debate by getting out blank paper or, if your participating in the debate, your debate materials and rubric.  After the debate, you'll post a reflection to the class blog.  Finally, we'll spend the remainder of class examining the emergence of nationalism.
