WestCiv Day 39 - French Revolution Assessment & Nationalism

Objective:  Assess knowledge and understanding of the French Revolution and Napoleon.  Investigate the emergence of nationalism in 19th century Europe.

Task: As you come into class, please get out your Napoleon packet from Monday.  We'll spend the first few minutes of class reviewing the last few questions on the packet.  Then, you'll use your notebook to complete the unit 5 test.  After everyone has finished the test, we'll finish our notes on the emergence of nationalism in Europe.

WestCiv Day 37 - French Revolution & Debate

Objective:  Participate in or observe a debate on the human costs of the French Revolution.  Utilize library resources to prepare for debates.

Task: As you come into class, please get out your computer and check your knowledge of the French Revolution with the "French Revolution & Napoleon" trivia game.   Next, we'll set up the room for our debate and students participating in the debate should hand in their rubrics.  After the debate, you'll post a reflection to the class blog.  Finally, we'll spend the remainder of class reviewing the Napoleon packet from Monday.

Note: Due to a 2 hour delay, today's class is shortened.  I'll distribute the final project description & rubric and we'll spend the remainder of class researching in the library.

Objective:  Participate in or observe a debate on the human costs of the French Revolution.  Utilize library resources to prepare for debates.

Task: As you come into class, please get out your computer and check your knowledge of the French Revolution with the "French Revolution & Napoleon" trivia game.  Then, I'll distribute and explain the final project description and rubric.  Next, we'll set up the room for our debate and students participating in the debate should hand in their rubrics.  After the debate, you'll fill out an evaluation form.  Finally, we'll spend the remainder of class in the library researching for the debates and/or begin preparing for the final project.

WestCiv Day 31 - Causes of the French Revolution

Objectives:  Evaluate the causes of the French Revolution.  Chronicle the developments and course  of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era.

Task:  To begin class, I'll collect your essays and you'll spend the first 10 minutes completing the unit 3 & 4 test.  Then, you'll get out your "Causes of the French Revolution" DBQ.  Answer the questions in the packet and create an outline response (including a thesis) to the question.  Turn in your outline and pick up "Chronicling the French Revolution."  We'll spend the remainder of the class investigating the French Revolution.

WestCiv Day 29 - The Old Regime & Causes of the French Revolution

Objectives:  Examine the status of society, politics, and culture in the Old Regime.  Describe the causes of the French Revolution.

Task:  We'll take notes on the Old Regime and examine the major military clashes that characterized this period.  Next, we'll use a DBQ to investigate the causes of the French Revolution.
