HWC10.11 Day 61 - South Asia Geography

Objective:  Identify and label countries, cities, bodies of water, and geographic features of South Asia.

Task:  To start class,  we'll briefly discuss the Student Summit.  For this event, you will need to create a collage to visually represent your experience in the NetGenEd project and create a script (30-45 seconds) that you will read from on the summit day.

Then, we'll begin our examination of South Asia with a game to check your knowledge of the South Asia map.  Next, we'll take some time to watch and participate in a demonstration on arable land and population density in South Asia.  Finally, you'll spend the last portion of class working through a geography "workshop."

WestCiv Day 30 - Assessment & Causes of the French Revolution

Objectives:  Assess knowledge and understanding of absolutism and Enlightenment.  Evaluate the causes of the French Revolution.

Task:  We'll start class selecting the final PDP's for units 5 & 6.  Then, I'll distribute the essay questions and you will have 15 minutes to brainstorm with your classmates.  Then, you'll pull your desks apart, I'll distribute the remainder of the test and we'll spend the next portion of class taking the test on the absolutism and Enlightenment.  When you've finished with the test,  get out your "Causes of the French Revolution" DBQ.  Answer the questions in the packet and create an outline response (including a thesis) to the question.

WestCiv Day 28 - Enlightenment & the Old Regime

Objectives:  Reflect on the ideas and the contributions of the Enlightenment.  Examine the status of society, politics, and culture in the Old Regime.

Task:  We'll spend the first portion of class finishing with our Enlightenment VoiceThread.  Then, we'll take notes on the Old Regime and examine the major military clashes that characterized this period.  Finally, we'll spend the last portion of class identifying continuities and changes in European culture and society.

WestCiv Day27 - Enlightenment

Objective:  Investigate the individuals and ideas of the Scientific Revolution and the Age of Reason.

Task:  Today, we'll start class with a video on "The Enlightenment and the Age of Louis XIV."  Then, we'll listen to and take notes on our VoiceThread on the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment.  As you listen to the comments, it will be useful to create a chart that identifies the socio-historical context, biographical information, and significant contributions.  Further, consider trends and anomalies presented of the time period.  After you've listened to all of the comments, post reflections to the question pages.  To end class, we'll have a discussion on the status of 18th century Europe.
