CPWC Day 61 - History of South Asia

Objective:  Examine the religious and philosophical traditions of South Asia.  Investigate select historical events to define the cultural heritage of South Asia.

Task:  Good morning! As you arrive to class, please pick up "Railroads in India" and "Unruly End to Empire."  Work on the railroads worksheet  for the first few minutes of class.   Then, we'll begin class with a discussion on the Marvin Harris article and the anthropological perspective of cow worship in India.  Then, you'll work with a partner to continue the South Asia timeline. After everyone has finished the timeline, we'll spend some time discussing select events in the history of South Asia.

• Tuesday, May 5 - Partition Answers, Observations, & Reflections due IN CLASS 
• Follow the directions and answer the questions on "The Partition of India" GooglePresentation 
• Go to "Unruly End to Empire" (Economist, 7/19/2007) to answer the questions on slide 2 (paper copy distributed in class TODAY)
